Jesus - a Jew born in Bethlehem in Judea and raised in Nazareth. He claims to be the Messiah, was baptized by the prophet John the Baptist and worked as a carpenter before entering his public ministry at age 30. He was crucified for blasphemy.
apostle - the first 12 men who followed Jesus and his teachings
Paul - Paul was a Jew who was at first an enemy of Christianity. While traveling to Damascus, he saw Jesus and went blind and after that experience he became a loyal follower of Him and wrote many letters to towns
diaspora - when most Jews were driven fro their homeland and forced into exile after three years of war in an attempt to gain freedom
Constantine - the Roman emperor who legalized christianity
bishop - a priest who supervised several local churches
Peter - the apostle who was the rock in which Jesus built his church upon. He was also the first Pope
pope - the father or head of the church

3. Jesus emphasized God's personal relationship to each human being and stressed the importance of people's love for God, their neighbors, their enemies, and themselves
4. they refused to worship Roman gods so they were often used as a scapegoat for political and economic troubles
5. the Nicene creed defines the basic  beliefs of the church
